A couple of days ago, when i was telling people who bought azsky service account through me, and the whole of my readers that azsky products are unstable simply because they are undergoing service maintenance, that it will be back and better with time, most people think i was joking. But as i speak, I have beaing watching most DS*V channels without freezing since 3:00am on my azsky g1+ and g1. 5 Top Reasons Why Azsky Dongles & Receivers Are The Best
Azsky has evidently conquered all its competitors with the upgrade process it recently rolled out . It has made watching satellite TV with dongles a luxury not a frustration, it has greatly unsettled those who are exploiting us with exorbitant satellite subscription bills. I will highlight the reasons why when you want to use a dongle with your dongle compliant decoder, you should go for azsky g1+ and when you want to use a receiver with an inbuilt account, go for G2 or G6.
He who laugh last, laugh best, as you all know, am always sincere and objective with my reviews and tutorials. This article is also about reviewing a product, just that this time around, the product is an existing one am talking of none other than G1, G2, G1+ and Xman. It should be noted the dongle mentioned above are manufactured by Azsky and they all use the same servers. One thing about me is that when a satellite product is performing very badly, i will say something and when it has improved, i will speak out as well.
WHY YOU SHOULD EITHER STICK WITH YOUR AZSKY DONGLE OR GET A NEW AZSKY DONGLE TODAY:
Azsky G1 Is The first Gprs adapter in Africa, that enters the market with a bank, and ever since its refuses to go solo. Azsky came into the scene when all hope was almost lost for us on what we will use to watch last season’s soccer. at as the time g1 arrived other products has disappointed us and they went completely offline (e.g avatar 2, liberty, tlink, spider e.t.c) it was only azsky g1 that managed to show some couple of sports channels. So if you are a sport lover, don’t deceive yourself, buy a g1+ today or renew your existing g1+ service account.
Azsky dongle is the most organized and the most dependable dongle till date. It is the only dongle that promised a renewal and fulfill its promise by selling service account all in the bid to continue offering us quality services. liberty decoder manufacturers also promised renewal but they have failed woefully.
Service delivery and attentiveness… The azsky team delivers on time, when they promise to do something, they do it on time. for example, the on going sever and power maintenance was planned to last two weeks, but been a considerate team, they are 95% through with it within a couple of days.
Stability: whether you like it or not, azsky dongles no longer freeze whenever it is working, those who bought their service accounts through me can testify to this. so if you are yet to get your account loaded, buy it now and load it.
If you don’t know, i have been communicating with azsky team all this while their products were malfunctioning, and their team has always been supportive and accommodating. their service account too is relatively cheap when compared to the price of avatar’s 2 IC or cable.
My recommendation is that if you must use a dongle, use Azsky G1+ and always remember the saying, “A bird in hand, is worth more than 10 in the bus” and “A devil you know, is better than an Angel you don’t know yet”

Where To Buy A Reliable Service Account For G1/ G1+ / Xman /G2 and G6
Yes it has been a while since there have been complaints about service disruptions on Azsky g1 and Azsky xman. An as we all know, the only solution to this problem is for you to load another service account into your expired G1 or Xman. However, I want to let you know that it is not only an expired Azsky prdouct that you can load a service account into. For example, i have a g1+ which suddenly started misbehaving within the hours of 6;30pm – 10;30pm daily for about 3weeks now, all i did was to load the newly released service account for g1 on my g1+ (despite the fact that the inbuilt service account has not yet expired) and now am happy to tell you that my g1+ no longer freezes at night.
In this post, am only trying to tell you that you can buy your service account for azsky g1, xman, xtrem, g1+ and g2 through me and after purchase you will clink the link below to load your new account procedures here.

How to Do a Decoder to Decoder Firmware Transfer Via Rs232 Cable
Like i said earlier, it may get to a point when a decoder to decoder firmware transfer will be inevitable. most especially in the two above mentioned case, where you can either not upgrade your fake strong decoder via rs232 or you cannot find a loader for your liberty decoder. Due to popular demand by (mostly novice) on how to transfer the firmware of on strong decoder to another strong decoder of the same model. E.g the two strong the coder must be the same model that . if it is strong 4669x then the two decoders must both be strong 4669x annd they must also be both fake decoders of which one is working and the other one dead. Please do not transfer firmwares between two different strong products.
As for liberty decoders, the same rules that applies to strong decoders above, also applies to it. so please don’t try to transfer the firmware of a working liberty decoder to an expired liberty decoder of different models. e.g don’t transfer t1 firmware to t3 decoder.
STEPS TO DO THE DECODER TO DECODER TRANSFER:
The steps is basically for strong, but you can apply it for liberty as well
1. You need to get a rs232 cable
2. Get another working decoder of that same type
3.connect the two decoder via rs232 and remember to switch off the fried / expired one
4. Switch on the good one. Go to – system setting – data transfer – firmware – ok.
Wait till it finish loading. That's all.

Two Ways In Which You Can Revive Your Fried / Dead Fake Strong Decoder
HOW YOU CAN WAKE UP YOUR DEAD FAKE STRONG DECODER:
Immediately you buy a fake strong decoder, the first thing you should do is to backup its fake software before the decoder run into problems, you can backup the software by extracting the software that came with fake strong decoder into a usb flash drive through the following means;
Insert your usb into the decoder now goto Menu>>Storage>>Data transfer>> then press the blue button on your remote which indicates upload STB to extract your software and save it on your flash drive. this works perfectly with strong 4663 and 4669x
Unlike an original strong decoder which has several ways of waking it up when its dead or fried, fake strong decoders only have two ways in which they can be revived that is they will be revived in the first place;
You will look for someone who is using a fake strong decoder of your own model which is not yet dead and ask him to extract the software by following the steps above then he should send it to you so that you can wake your decoder via a computer to learn how to do this read my earlier post HERE.
The second method which has no restriction is for you to locate the dealer or the person who sold it to you(the worst thing that can happen to you is to buy a second-handed fake strong product) then you will beg or implore him to do a decoder to decoder software transfer for you. He may charge you if the time frame is long but you must let him know that you have a fake strong decoder and only fake strong software can wake fake strong decoder if you mistakenly attempt to wake it with an original software, you may permanently loose your decoder.
Hope this help? Questions are welcome

How to wakeup a fried/ dead strong decoder & How to upgrade Strong Decoders via Pc
In this post two things will be addressed one is how you can wake your dead or fried original strong decoders via pc and rs-232 cable.
Warning: this post is not for you if you have a fake / clone strong decoder because your box will not wake up.
But for those who have the genuine decoders, complete the instructions below on how you can wake up your dead strong decoders… now your strong decoder may die as a result of several reasons including but not limited to the fact that you may be trying to input or upload something that is corrupt or incompatible into it. E.g you are trying to update its firmware via a usb flash drive that is infected with virus.
There are two major ways to wake a fried strong decoder
i. Through a computer Using RS-232 cable
ii. Through decoder to decoder via inter-decoder firmware transfer
Procedures and requirements on how to wake a dead strong decoder with another strong decoder
1. Get an rs-232 cable
2. Get another working decoder of that same type
3.connect the two decoder via rs232 and remember to swich off the fried one
4. Switch on the good one. Go to – system setting>> data transfer >>firmware press ok. Wait till it finish loading. That’s all. Drop your comments
PROCEDURES TO WAKE A FRIED DECODER WITH A PC VIA RS-232 CABLE USING STRONG LOADER:
To do this via a pc you will need to have some basic things:
i download the strong loader for Strong decoder HERE
ii Now download the software compatible with your decoder model from the list there
iii save both the loader and the software on your pc desktop for easier access
iv launch the srt loader and click on the browse button, locate your software and select
v. Now conect your decoder with the rs-232 cable and press auto detect on the loader menu. once your decoder is detected press on download and wait for the process to complete.
Warning, do not for any reason switch on the box before or during the process even if the box is not totally dead prior to theis process switch it off before the process
Any problem you face in between is welcome
Genuine Reasons While You Should Or Should Not Upgrade / Update Ur Decoder / Dongles
This is a kind of Generic Article because it will cover both Dongles, Internet Dongles (e.g g1), Internet decoders and receivers be it standalone that are used with a cccam account and router (e.g), branded decoders with inbuilt accounts (e.g tlink, liberty t1, g2 e.t.c) and branded decoders from popular Satellite service providers (e.g Dstv multichoice africa, Mytv africa e.t.c)
The bone of contention here is about 3 questions: 1. When should i update my decoder, 2. Why should i Upgrade my decoder and 3. Why shouldn't i Upgrade my decoder / receiver. I will have to take the question one after the other starting from the first to the last.
1. WHEN SHOULD I UPDATE MY DECODER?
It doesn’t matter if you use a dstv package, mytv package , starttimes, gotv, tlink, liberty e.t.c..
One thing i know about software upgrades is that you shouldn’t jump into it fir the fun of it. For example if you are using decoders like dstv e.t.c you are safe as they will only push the necessary updates to you and even st that, you have the choice to reject or accept it. So if you are using mytv, dstvor any other premium satellite packages i will advice you to always accept their push notifications to update your decoders and you should also do it promptly as failure to do it on time may even get you into trouble.
However if you use other types of decoders and boxes to watch pay satellite television,am talking abut such boxes and decoders such as tlink, liberty star, azsky g1 dongle, spider, dovesat, hawk strong decoders, dreambox, openbox e.t.c. I will advice you to please aand please do not search for softwares or software patches to update your decoders for the fun of it. To make this more clearer, newer strong decoders firmware tends to remove vital features such as dongle option menu and cccam options if you are not careful. and the matter is even worse because those who owns fake srtong decoders suffer more as they get their decoders permanently killed simply by updating it. Furthermore you maybe dwindle merely by looking for update software to your decoder as a result of general problems e.g i add some people saying there is upgrades for liberty star well i smile.
Finally the saddest aspect is that while updating, there mustn't be a power failure or else your working decoder will turn out to be a fried chicken. So when you should update these set of decoders mentioned above is when you are sure that if you upgrade, you will receive an improved service e.g those who upgrade their decoder to my latest 1.58 software on tlink 900 100% are experiencing improved performance.
2. WHY SHOULD I UPGRADE / UPDATE MY DECODER ?:
When you notice an apparent malfunctioning in your decoder then you may have no choice other than to upgrade.
> When other peoples decoders or dongles are working and yours are not.
> When a feature is missing in your decoder and it is not due to your fault and you are aware that a particular software update can bring this back then it is time for you to upgrade.
> Lastly when your decoder is dead then you can try to load the latest firmware to wake it up.
3. WHY SHOULD I NOT UPGRADE / UPDATE MY DECODER? :
I will simply say apart from those who are using premium packages from established satellite service providers, please do not upgrade your decoder for the fun of it. In fact do a grounded research and know what you are doing before you upgrade ypur decoder.
if this has been helpful, please share it with your friends
Decoders / Dongles and Boxes That are Currently Renewable
When i say boxes or decoders, am talking of such decoders like t.link HD decoders, orthon, G1 one gprs adapter, liberty star t1, t3 , t5 spider, xman e.t.c.
ONE ERRONEOUS BELIEFS ABOUT BOXES, INTERNET DECODERS & DONGLES:
When all this Chinese manufacturers release any of their products, it is always accompanied with paparazzi, marketing and many false information. Virtually as at the time of release, the manufacturers of all these products usually promise sound customer care, supports and software updates and renewals. This is usually not the case except in some cases. For example as at the time of the launch of the liberty star tseries decoder, We were promised in plain language that it will be renewed after six months. But alas some liberty decoders has packed up and their is no renewal method for now. So like i said earlier, i will simply list the boxes out there that are working and renewable as well as those working but non-renewable. This is not to promote one product at the expense of another it is merely to state things the way they are.
LIST OF WORKING DECODERS / BOXES /DONGLES THAT ARE UPGRADEABLE:
1. T.Link Series That is T.link 300 to t.link 900 HD and newer; t.Link is presently working and is renewable either internally or externally. it is renewable internally if nd only if you can get a dealer who has access to their office in Dubai to do it for you. and the two advantages of internal renewal is that 1. it is cheaper and secondly for those using sds mode on t.link 900 only internal renewal will continue working for ur sds mode. Alternatively, you can by a reliable cccam account from a reliable reseller or online from trusted cccam sites e.g www.cccamvip.com
2. Liberty t1, t3, e.t.c… as stable as this Internet decoder is, unfortunately, it is not currently renewable despite the fact that the manufacturers promised it will be renewable so lets us wait and pray it is renewable soon enough.
3 Avatar one of the oldest following microbox, hawk e.t.c avatar two has been very consistent with its renewals which is in two ways. if your avatar 2 is dead, it is either you buy the new short cable and continue enjoying it or you change the IC.
4. AZSKY G1, G1+ ,G2, G6 Gprs adapter / dongle THESE ARE RENEWABLE FOR EVERY 6 MONTHS
5. Spider non-renewable
6. Microbox is renewable BUT EXPENSIVE
7. Hawk is renewable but unstable
You can give us the name of your own branded dongle or INTERNET decoder so that we can research into it to see if it is renewable or not.
share this with your friends who are ignorant IT
About G1 GPRS dongle G1 adapter For Afrrica (the cheapest and most reliable Internet Dongle)
You all know that in this blog all i do is to bring detailed first hand information to you on reliable satellite television, free to air and Internet decoders. I don't normally discuss about dongles as that has been taken care of in my web forum. But today am happy to announce that (after careful research though) their is a new dongle but this time around, it is an Internet dongle or call it adapter meaning it can be used as a dongle but you are going to use it with a sim card.
it opens Multichoice D**V, PSAT, CanalSAT, MyTV, AI Jazeera Sport, etc.
and all you need per month is simply 25mb of data which is equivalent to about #200 per week if you are to using a sim card from Nigeria. The is a slot for the sim card at the back of the box and you can use it with any decoder of your choice just like other dongles.
The only difference is that it only works with a sim card with airtime or data bundle and you can even use it with only one dish. You can learn more about this decoders by the manufactures of libery start t1 and t3 decoders ;

List of Working Boxes & Decoders that Opens DSTV, NSS, MYTV e.t.c Year 2013
This article will only summarize the decoders / dongles that are working with various satellites in Africa to watch pay tv. E.g you will pay a certain amount to the manufacturers of this decoders yearly(e.g t.link) or every six months (e.g avatar 2) before you can continue enjoying their products.
so this post is for year 2013 and am very sure that any decoder or box that is presently working now will work for a very long time to come. It is worthy of note that some decoders died with year 2012. while some survived it and some has sprung up now. At the end of this article, i will also advice you on the best combination based on your pocket.
LIST OF DECODERS & DONGLES THAT ARE PRESENTLY WORKING AS OF YEAR 2013:
1; T.link HD decoder = We have two models of t/link decoders that are very popular in Africa especially Nigeria and they are T.Link 600 HD and T.link 900 hd. the major difference between the two is legibility. And they are
1. tlink 900 runs on windows operating system while tlink 600 is linux based OS(meaning t.link 600 may tend to have a slight edge over 900 with its cccam protocol)
2. However the lapses in t.link 900 was covered with its inbuilt sds mode which is also called dongle mode. that is t.link 900 comes preinstalled with two separate accounts / protocols namely SDS MODE & CCCAM ACCOUNT MODE(if one is down you can use the other, and you can use t.link 900 without Internet connection)
3. you can use a direct Internet usb modem with t.link 600 whereas you need to use a router with t.link 900 HD before you can access its inbuilt CCCam mode.
Verdict:
T.LINK IS THE MOST TRUSTED AND THE MOST RELIABLE OF ALL THE DECODERS / BOXES THAT YOU CAN USE TO WATCH PREMIUM SATELLITE TV E.G DSTV, NSS, NILESAT e.t.c. However it is the most expensive of them all besides it is not always the best with Eutelsat W4/7 DSTV Multi choice Africa. If you must use t.link and you are desperate to watch DSTV Stations only, i will advice you to buy a dongle e.g avatar 2 or a gprs dongle e.g g1 with t.link just in case some channels go off on t.link you can switch. It is very rare for all dstv channels to go off t.link but most channels do go off at times.
2:AVATAR 2 (with a short cable a.k.a paired or with changed ic)
I have been using my avatar 2 for close to four years if not more and today avatar 2 is still alive and it is one of the most popular among low income earners. Advantages of avatar 2 is that it is one of the cheapest, it can be renewed with #4000 or less and it opens HD stations.
Present Condition of Avatar 2:
you can learn more about avatar, how to configure it, and how to upgrade it at our forum here. Avatar 2 paired that now uses short cable is still on till now. However most of the cable has expired so if you bought your cable very early, their is every possibility that your cable must have expired. however, some who bought the cable late still have their box working very well A new cable is out for paired avatar but the chinkos are still working on the servers and that is why it is very unstable now . As for avatar 2 with changed ic, it is working very well and stable as at present with little or no interruptions. I you have the money you can combine avatar with t.link if you know you want are interested in watching more of dstv channels at all times. but if you know you don't mind the occasional downtimes of avatar 2, you can use it alone.
Avatar two works with server Eutelsat W3A 12.728 (H) 30.000 while aVATRA 2with changed ic works on (V) same frequency.
3. Liberty star t3 and T3 Decoders:
Liberty has gained a lot of ground in Nigeria now. and they came with deception that their products will be renewable every six months. however as it stands liberty is not renewable but we still have liberty star t1 and star t3 working till date. However i have some ppl complaining that their own liberty decoder has not been working for months, well it may have expired. However before you reach such a conclusion, pls first check the status of your decoder by pressing MENU + 2580 in quick succession, If you receive a message like sim ok or sim error. If you get sim okay, you are safe but if you get sim error then there is only one thing involved which is your decoder cannot work again until the manufacturers of liberty do something about it.
VERDICT ON LIBERTY:
It is the closest rival to t.link and it is also affordable. however it supports only two satellites namely DSTV and NSS 7. It is good when you have a good connection and you cant afford t.link. it cannot yet be combined effectively with another box. Liberty is good for average spender who wouldn't mind when it will stop working without remedy. Liberty works well but it is use while it last. The major difference between t3 and t1 of liberty star decoder is that, t3 supports more sim e.g t3 now supports glo mobile Nigeria Sim. and also t3 doesn't have an antenna while t1 has. t3 is more portable than t1.
4. G1 Gprs Adapter:
It works like liberty too with Internet but it is not a decoder on its own so it therefore works with other decoders. it opens HD channels and it supports all sim in Nigeria. it doesn't require any configuration.
However the renewal method, just like liberty is not yet know.
5. Spider Dongle: Works like avatar 2 and every other dongle but more like the defunct strong xii and avatar 3. it has no renewals yet but its a bit more stable than avatar 2.
6. Fta 007: almost like avatar 2 and just like avatar 2 it is renewable
8. Hawk, Microbox, xtem e.t.c… i have no review on hawk but microbox is a popular but expensive box that is renewable yearly. as for hawk it doesn't require any software renewal it works only when it chooses and it can be very stable at times.
If you have an addition then add it to the comment box… the review is based on my objective analysis and research on the above products am not marketing for anyone so feel free to bring on your criticism and appraisal.
If this has been helpful, please share it around.
HOW TO TRACK SATELLITES & FREQUENCIES IN NIGERIA
In this post, all i shall be concerning myself with is a noob guide on how to manually install or let me call it track a satellite dish and connect it with a decoder. And for the purpose of this post, i will be using one of the most popular stand alone deoders which is Strong decoder and the frequency i shall be giving as example shall be MBC frequency on w3a. To start with you may be interested to know the meaning of a satellite dish
A satellite dish is a dish-shaped type of parabolic antenna designed to receive microwaves from communications satellites, which transmit data transmissions or broadcasts, such as satellite television.
.
Principle of operation
Schematics of reflection principles used in parabolic antennas.
The parabolic shape of a dish reflects the signal to the dish's focal point. Mounted on brackets at the dish’s focal point is a device called a feed-horn. This feed-horn is essentially the front-end of a waveguide that gathers the signals at or near the focal point and ‘conducts’ them to a low-noise block down converter or LNB. The LNB converts the signals from electromagnetic or radio waves to electrical signals and shifts the signals from the down-linked C-band and/or Ku-band to the L-band range. Direct broadcast satellite dishes use an LNBF, which integrates the feed-horn with the LNB. (A new form of omni-directional satellite antenna, which does not use a directed parabolic dish and can be used on a mobile platform such as a vehicle was announced by the University of Waterloo in 2004.[1]
The theoretical gain (directive gain) of a dish increases as the frequency increases. The actual gain depends on many factors including surface finish, accuracy of shape, feed-horn matching. A typical value for a consumer type 60 cm satellite dish at 11.75 GHz is 37.50 dB.
With lower frequencies, C-band for example, dish designers have a wider choice of materials. The large size of dish required for lower frequencies led to the dishes being constructed from metal mesh on a metal framework. At higher frequencies, mesh type designs are rarer though some designs have used a solid dish with perforations.
A common misconception is that the LNBF (low-noise block/feed-horn), the device at the front of the dish, receives the signal directly from the atmosphere. For instance, one BBC News down-link shows a “red signal” being received by the LNBF directly instead of being beamed to the dish, which because of its parabolic shape will collect the signal into a smaller area and deliver it to the LNBF.[2]
Modern dishes intended for home television use are generally 43 cm (18 in) to 80 cm (31 in) in diameter, and are fixed in one position, for Ku-band reception from one orbital position. Prior to the existence of direct broadcast satellite services, home users would generally have a motorized C-band dish of up to 3 meters in diameter for reception of channels from different satellites. Overly small dishes can still cause problems, however, including rain fade and interference from adjacent satellites.
Types
Motor-driven dish
A dish that is mounted on a pole and driven by a stepper motor or a servo can be controlled and rotated to face any satellite position in the sky. Motor-driven dishes are popular with enthusiasts. There are three competing standards: DiSEqC, USALS, and 36v positioners. Many receivers support all of these standards.
Multi-satellite
Special dish for up to 16 satellite positions (Ku-band).
Some designs enable simultaneous reception from multiple different satellite positions without re-positioning the dish. The vertical axis operates as an off-axis concave parabolic concave hyperbolic Cassegrain reflector, while the horizontal axis operates as a concave convex Cassegrain. The spot from the main dish wanders across the secondary, which corrects astigmatism by its varying curvature. The elliptic aperture of the primary is designed to fit the deformed illumination by the horns. Due to double spill-over, this makes more sense for a large dish.
VSAT
A common type of dish is the very small aperture terminal (VSAT). This provides two way satellite Internet communications for both consumers and private networks for organizations. Today most VSATs operate in Ku band; C band is restricted to less populated regions of the world. There is a move which started in 2005 towards new Ku band satellites operating at higher frequencies, offering greater performance at lower cost. These antennas vary from 74 to 120 cm (29 to 47 in) in most applications though C-band VSATs may be as large as 4 m (13 ft).
Others
U.S. residential satellite TV receiver dishes
Individual dishes serving one dwelling: Direct to Home (DTH).
Collective dishes, shared by several dwellings: satellite master antenna television (SMATV) or communal antenna broadcast distribution (CABD).
Automatic Tracking Satellite Dish
Big ugly dish
Ad hoc
The dish is a reflector antenna and almost anything that reflects radio frequencies can be used as a reflector antenna. This has led to dustbin lids, woks and other items being used as “dishes”. Coupled with low noise LNBs and the higher transmission power of DTH satellites, it is easier to get a usable signal on some of these “dishes”.
Apart from the above satellite dishes which are somewhat expensive, we still have smaller dishes that are very popular in Africa and this dishes ranges between 90cm – 60cm. you can track MBC with a 90cm dish.
How to Install Satellite TV System
A satellite TV system installation is a two-stage process:
1] Installation of the satellite dish;
2] Installation of the satellite decoder to receive the TV programming from your service provider.
Prior to moving on with the installation process, you have to purchase a satellite TV kit. This consists of the satellite dish and related mounting kit, high-grade RF coaxial cable, and the satellite TV receiver, or satellite decoder.
Now installing the satellite decoder is relatively easier. let me take strong decoder as my example .For example if you want to track MBC on Eutelsat W3A this is what you will have to do.
>Connect your decoder to the mains, connect your lnb cable that comes from your dish>> now on your decoder's remote control, press MENU>>INSTALLATION>>MANUAL SEARCH>>the change the following values.
SATELLITE: utelsat w3a
FREQUENCY: 12.728
SYMBAL RATE: 30.000
POLARIZATION: V
What is left is for you to manipulate your dish until your signal quality is green and in at least 52 percent and above. will explain this better.
ABOUT THE SATELLITE DISH LNBs
LNB’s sit in front of the actual parabola of the satellite dish, at the end of the arm projecting from the dish itself. Their purpose is to receive, amplify and down convert the required ‘blocks’ of microwave frequencies to lower 950MHz to 1.45GHz L-band frequency signals; these are then sent to the satellite TV receiver or IRD (integrated receiver decoder), via RG-6 coax cable (more information on RF coaxial cables is available on our site here.)
The number of LNBs determines the number of satellites a satellite dish can ‘see’ since a separate LNB is required to receive signals from satellites in different orbital positions. Satellite TV service providers use multiple satellites to deliver their content, hence the need for multiple LNBs to receive the full range of satellite TV programming.
LNB’s use an antenna probe inside the feedhorn to pick up the signal focused by the satellite dish. The probe has to be aligned mechanically in a vertical or horizontal direction (or left and right hand circular polarization for DBS satellites), in line with the polarization of the signal transmitted by the satellite transponders. This dual polarization is used by satellites to avoid interference between adjacent channels, and is achieved by assigning even and odd transponders on the satellite different polarization.
LNBF’s employ a dual antenna probe setup inside the throat of the feedhorn with one aligned vertically and the other horizontally (or left and right). Switching to the correct polarized probe is carried out electronically via a voltage sent up the coaxial cable by the receiver.
Satellite Dish Installation Process
The relatively small size of present day digital satellite dish systems means that these may be practically fixed just about anywhere. In particular, these compact satellite dishes are especially suitable for city dwellers.
While many opt to have their new satellite dish installed by a professional, the actual installation process is not difficult; all you need are basic DIY skills.
The only real difficulty that may arise in the process is when aiming the dish to get the best signal from the satellites. This is a crucial step and it is this step which may warrant professional assistance. Remember that the satellite dish is your main link to those satellites floating around in space, so it has to be aimed properly to pick up the signals; a self-installation kit may be of assistance here.
Selecting the best location for your Satellite Dish
First, you have to decide on the exact location where best to install your satellite dish. There are a few issues that you need to take into account here. These shall include:
1] Remember that DSS satellites are in a geo-stationary orbit above the equator. Therefore, a satellite dish must point South when you are located north of the equator and North if you are located south of the equator.
2] Choose a location that is easily accessible in case you need to clean snow or debris out of your satellite dish, or to re-adjust the dish in case it has lost its alignment. A suitable location is to attach the dish to a post which has been sunken in the ground.
3] The chosen location should be unobstructed by trees, branches, buildings, etc. In addition, make sure that the growth of new foliage does not impede your system.
4] Ideally, the selected location should allow you to take a route that is as straight and as close to your television set as possible. At the same time, ensure that the selected location is away from power lines and other service utilities.
6] Finally, refer to the included instructions for any specific details.
Choose a method of installation that allows your system to withstand the elements year-round and still remain perfectly aligned and rigidly mounted. Remember that system movement can reduce signal reception to the point of complete loss.
Always do a trial run on the ground for coax cable installation from the satellite dish to the place where it will enter your house. Make sure it is long enough to reach both points. Attach the cable to the satellite dish and then run it across your yard and into the house through a drilled hole.
Attach the cable to your television set. Seal all outdoor electrical connections with weatherproof sealant, and bury the incoming receiving line below the frost line level.
Finally, ground the unit and the incoming receiving line by following local electrical code standards; this is both a safety consideration as well as a potential code requirement. Place an inexpensive coax grounding block such as the one shown at the point where the antenna cable enters the house; then run a wire from the grounding block to your home’s ground rod.
To determine the best location for your satellite dish, follow these few simple steps:
1] Determine which satellite carries your most frequently viewed programs and figure out its location on the solar arc.
2] Locate the area outside your home that is nearest to your television set.
3] Turn and face south – or north if you are located south of the equator.
4] Look from east to west, following an arc that mimics the sun’s path across the sky.
5] Observe any obstacles, such as trees or buildings that may obscure the line of sight along the arc. This is the most critical step prior to installation
Some terms:
Elevation refers to the ‘look’ or up-down angle between the dish pointing direction (directly towards the satellite), and the local horizontal plane.
Azimuth refers to the rotation of the whole satellite dish assembly around a vertical axis, or supporting pole. By definition, North is 0 deg or 360 deg, East is 90 deg, South is 180 deg, and West is 270 deg.
Skew refers to the polarization angle of the electric field. The term ‘Dish Skew' refers to the dish tilt necessary to get the satellite dish position such that the LNB will be in exact alignment with the electric field of the incoming satellite signals. Setting the dish skew is necessary only when pointing to more than a single satellite.
To set the dish skew, stand behind the dish and rotate it clockwise until the scale on the dish reads the same angle as the required dish skew for your setup. If your dish has a reversed scale, the scale reading should be 180 minus the skew angle.
How to tune or Fine-tune your satellite Dish for maximum channels reception:
1] Adjust the antenna reflector azimuth angle to match that necessary for the particular satellite. This adjustment is the east-west movement of the reflector on the vertical mount and is given in azimuth degrees.
2] Adjust the elevation angle; this adjustment is from the horizon to the sky and is given as elevation in degrees above the horizontal plane.
3] If you are tracking more than one satellite, you also need to set the dish skew as further detailed in the skew definition above.
4] Ensure that the antenna signal line is connected to the receiver and the receiver is turned on and positioned on a beacon channel; the beacon channel is transmitted from the satellite to peak your antenna to it.
5] Begin tuning by slowly moving the reflector first to the east in one-degree increments for a total of three degrees, then in the opposite direction (west) while monitoring the receiver's signal meter. Peak the signal to the highest scale at this point. Ideally, this should be done using an inexpensive satellite finder or signal strength meter as the Triplet 3275; these allow for a more precise adjustment thanks to their greater signal sensitivity.
6] Lock the antenna azimuth adjustment on the mount once the signal level is maximized.
7] Perform the same procedure as in steps 4 through 6, using the elevation adjustment, first up and then down for peaking. Lock the satellite dish elevation at the point of maximum signal reception.
8] Ground the antenna and the signal line entrance into the residence to electrical code standards as detailed earlier on in this guide.
The next step is to plug your receiver into a household outlet; turn your television set on and make any necessary adjustments to the satellite system settings. Once ready, you can relax and enjoy your new satellite TV system!
NOW HOW CAN I EASILY TRACK MBC ON EUTELSAT W3A:
Why am using mbc as my practical example is that mbc nowadays is the rescuer of Africa because it serves as server for all our STB products, free to air boxes an d^ngles. so lets us get it started:
1. Locate a dstv dish near your area as that will give the idea of where your EAST is . NOTE that dstv is on Eutelsat w4/7. Start by tracking DSTV Multi-choice Africa on Eutelsat w4/7 with the following settings 11940 H 27500, put your LNB at 9 0′clock.
2. When u have tracked w4/7, hold your dish in place and input Sirius 4 frequency 12605 V 29950 . Standing in front of your dish, Lift your dish up to face the sky and down while you move slowly to the left of DSTV dish. When you get Sirius 4 hold your dish there and input this 12728 V 30000, for w3a and bring your dish down slightly and bring it back to your right a little . Just work around Sirius 4 for w3a. The sat will turn green , then blind scan or use lyngsat to add other channels
you may try the above process in the reversed order depending on your locations.
Before i round off this lengthy post, i will like to help my african brothers (especially Nigerians on the list of receivable satellites and their frequencies)
Eutelsat w4(Dstv, Hitv), Sirius 4, Nss7, Intelsat(Mytv), Astra(Multi TV n Infinity) can work on 60cm (Size of HITV dish while Mbc needs in 90cm and above in Nigeria then for Nilesat you need 1.8 and above depending on your location.
